Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t see your question answered here, reach out via your server’s mod channel after inviting the bot.

What does TrenchWorm do?

TrenchWorm verifies new members using Discord OAuth and checks them against configurable blacklists and allowlists. It grants roles automatically and can flag or quarantine users based on your policy.

Is this safe? Does it capture IPs?

Verification uses Discord OAuth2—users authenticate on discord.com. TrenchWorm does not see or store passwords. We store only the minimum metadata required to enforce your policy and keep communities safe.

How do I set up TrenchWorm?

Invite the bot via “Add to Discord.” In your server, set your Verified and Quarantine roles, pick a verify channel, and choose your mode (hard vs. join-flag). See the quick steps on the homepage.

What happens when someone is quarantined?

Quarantined users receive a clear message and limited access while moderators review. Staff can release, keep quarantined, or remove the user according to your guidelines.

How do I manage blacklists and allowlists?

Use the configuration commands to add/remove server IDs or user IDs. You can combine a global list with your community’s entries, and add trusted exceptions via allowlists.

Is TrenchWorm free?

Yes. Core verification and safety features are free. A future subscription will offer optional analytics and power-tools, but the essentials stay free.
